Volunteer opportunities

Want to volunteer with us?

We're always looking for dedicated volunteers to support our artists with daily tasks and work one-on-one with our lead teaching artist to help facilitate a successful and engaging program.

Right now, we’re specifically seeking volunteers to join us weekly in our visual arts programs — a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an inclusive, creative environment.

This is an unpaid opportunity that could lead to stipend & job opportunities in the future.

Outcomes:

  • Opportunity for hands on experience in major Pittsburgh artist communities & exhibition spaces

  • Experience working with professional Adult Artists with disabilities

  • Networking opportunities from multiple art spaces & partner programs

  • Opportunity to work with multiple art mediums including: drawing, painting, printmaking, woodworking, jewelry, weaving, papermaking, mosaic, collage & more!

Volunteer responsibilities

  • Assist instructors & Admin team in pre-workshop preparation (1 or 2 weeks before workshop - approx. 1 day of work)

  • Commit to at least 1 extra-curricular event with CCS (photo documentation, events, markets, studio clean up & organization, or exhibit prep)

  • FBI & Child Abuse Clearances due before internship starts

  • Review Further Learning Documents as shared by CCS

About US

Creative Citizen Studios (CCS) uses art to bring people of all abilities together.  We work with artists with intellectual or developmental disabilities to make, exhibit, and sell their work.  Our weekly art classes, workshops, and exhibit opportunities help promote our artists while connecting them with a larger community of artists. CCS is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, (Millvale) with Citizen-artists featured in local, regional, and national art shows and exhibit spaces. The organization was established in 2013 and became a nonprofit in 2016. CCS strives to serve this talented community of artists with a small team of artists, administrators and educators. We hope you’ll consider joining this community as an intern for upcoming specialty workshops.

CCS serves adults, we treat each individual with the same respect that we treat all other artists throughout the world. Interns join our studio as part of our citizen community and take part in the mutual respect and camaraderie that will arise.
